About Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches

James J. Liautaud founded Jimmy John’s in Charleston, Illinois, in 1983 when he was 19 years old. With used equipment, a refrigerator, one meat slicer, a freezer and an oven, Jimmy John Liautaud started his business without even a posted menu or an outdoor sign. At the time, he offered four sandwich varieties and 25-cent soft drinks. After passing out sandwich samples throughout the college town, Liautuad added delivery service, tables, outdoor signs, menu boards and an expanded menu. He opened several more stores and developed a prototype before franchising began in 1993. Jimmy John’s franchisees bake bread at each store every day, and every sandwich is made fresh to order in 30 seconds. At Jimmy John’s, we don’t make sandwiches. We make The Sandwich of Sandwiches. We use fresh vegetables because we don’t hate salads, we just feel bad for them. We hand-slice our provolone cheese and meats in-house every day, because packaged pre-sliced meats doesn’t have the same ring to it. And we bake bread all day, every day because stale bread isn’t bread, it’s… croutons. The flavors of fresh-veggies, combined with hand-sliced meats and fresh-baked bread is what makes a Jimmy John’s sandwich.

No soups, no hot sandwiches, no salads. Just sandwiches. Our track record is best in class. Our system works for Jimmy John’s franchise owners, their teams and customers. We’ve been doing this for over 36 years. We’re one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in America. Most importantly, people love our food! Over 2,800 units strong and lots of room to grow.

WHAT WE DO

SANDWICHES – We make sandwiches – only sandwiches. Really fast. It’s simple: 7 meats, 3 breads, and 1 cheese making 25 different sandwiches.
DELIVERY – Delivery is our specialty. It gives us the edge to set us apart. We keep our delivery areas small. Our customers get their food fast and fresh. Fresh sandwiches fast!
CATERING – Party Boxes, 12-packs of Mini Jimmys®, and box lunches – we’ll knock out a giant catering order, even with last-minute’s notice! Our system enables us to do this. It’s designed that way.

Why Franchise?

-We’re Honest – We’ve got something that people crave. It’s damn good. We promise an honestly good sandwich and deliver on that promise. We tell it like it is. That’s why customers have come to trust Jimmy John’s.
-We Make it Happen – When you start a business in a garage and nurture it into a nation-wide franchise, that’s ass-kickin’ execution. When you work your way up from delivery driver to store owner, that’s passion. And when you drive six hours out of your way to get a sandwich, that’s loyalty.

-HIGH PERFORMERS – At Jimmy John’s, we want to be the best. We all do whatever it takes to get the job done. That’s why we are so selective in this process. Not everyone is wired the same way. We’re looking for Jimmy John’s franchise owners who want to be the best!
